Talbot Gateway Central Business District (CBD) is a major mixed-use regeneration scheme, transforming the heart of Blackpool town centre.
The scheme, introduced by Blackpool Council and delivered in partnership with Muse Developments — one of the country’s leading names in mixed-use developments and urban regeneration — is reviving one of Blackpool’s key gateways into a modern and thriving commercial and family-friendly district for local people and visitors alike.
A masterplan for Talbot Gateway has been developed to provide a new central business and civic quarter with 1.1 million sq ft of development including Grade A offices, a Foodstore, retail units, cafes/restaurants, a fully refurbished multi-storey car park, new transport interchange and hotel.
The project’s first phase, which has now completed, involved procuring No.1 Bickerstaffe Square, a new BREEAM excellent Grade A office building. The building has provided a new administrative headquarters for the council.
The first phases of the development also included a new 120,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s Foodstore, which opened in June 2014.In addition to these two striking new buildings, a refurbishment of the second oldest multi-storey car park in the country, including the provision of new ground floor retail space, has also been completed. A £6million comprehensive set of highway works including new roundabouts, signalised junctions and public square was also delivered as part of the first phase.
