Under Blue Sky– AN+ (Natanel Elfassy and Avital Gourary) in collaboration with Toshikatsu Kiuchi, Jun Sato &Oren Ezuz. Constructed from hanging strips of mesh spanning the open space at the Steinberg Centre, the overall effect of Under Blue Sky is that of softly spiralling gossamer. Each strip in the installation will be hung from two points to form curves that respond to the distinctive features of the existing space to create emergent patterns of shadow. It has been designed to act as an extension of the surrounding buildings and not as an interruption.
The surface is designed to twist, contort and spiral downward through the central square, softening and transforming the architectural space whilst engaging with visitors to encourage new interactions within the public realm including relaxation areas, a playground, a new music area and flower markets at weekends.
