The new £842m South Glasgow University Hospital achieved practical completion this week.
Covering an area equivalent in size to 11 football pitches and hosting the 1,109-bed South Glasgow University Hospital for adults and 256-bed Royal Hospital for Sick Children, the largest NHS construction project in the country was delivered under budget and ahead of schedule.
WSP have been involved in the project for seven years, providing civil & structural engineering, fire engineering, sustainability and geo-environmental services and had up to one hundred team members across 13 different locations working on it over this time, although the project was managed and technically led from WSP’s Glasgow office.
