The £10m building, which opens in September 2015, will house up to 600 14-18 year olds students who will study areas related to the schools specialism, engineering, science and the environment. The unique building design provides 8 specialist engineering workshops, 7 science laboratories as well as ICT and general teaching space.
our hub areas, supported by sponsors South West Water, Centrax, Environment Agency and Galliford Try, will provide a base for the UTC house system. A 350m² Challenge Arena will house team work and competitions for the UTC students as well as primary and secondary schools in the area. An external science terrace adjacent to lab space will allow for water collection, testing and monitoring to replicate the science used by South West Water and the Environment Agency. A full production café will serve breakfast and lunch as well as run an all-day café service for students and staff.
