Robinson College has unveiled plans to build a new £5 million seminar building to develop both its academic and award-winning conference facilities.
Work on the new building is expected to start in July 2014 and finish in late summer 2015. The permanent structure has been designed to create extra space for academic requirements, with plans to make use of the additional facilities for the college’s meetings and events business.
Once complete, the building will provide a flexible space which can be adapted by event organisers and will look to accommodate the growing demand that the college has seen for medium-scale capacity conference facilities in the Cambridge area.
The new development will be located within the grounds, within easy access of the main college building and taking full advantage of the college’s delightful landscaped gardens. The space consists of a well-appointed and equipped plenary flat floor room offering cabaret for 80, (dining for 120) and is supported by three breakout rooms, each with capacity for 15 U-shape which can be combined into a single room offering U-shape layout for 50. The building is self-contained and ideal for exclusive use events with easy access to parking and public transport.
