Since 2008, Manchester’s Metrolink has been delivering a £1.5 billion investment programme that will see the Metrolink network triple in size. With more stops, more trams and better facilities, this provides our customers with more choices and better public transport for communities across Greater Manchester. This next phase will see key stops in the City Centre transformed and a new Second City Crossing (2CC) built to enable more tram services to run through the heart of the City Centre as the network expands.
Improved customer facilities and more capacity through the city centre we will also be able to provide a better experience for our customers and more reliable services.
When all the work is complete, this transformation and the wider expansion will bring more tram services through the city centre, with improved facilities and better reliability to provide easy access to leisure, shopping and work opportunities across the city and the Greater Manchester region.
