Letham Mains Development Framework, Haddington
The Development Framework and Environmental Report were finalised following a public consultation period where copies of the draft Development Framework and Environment Report were sent to statutory consultees, local community organisations and relevant Community Councils and publicised on the Councils web page. Representations received, the council’s response to them and any amendments made to the Letham Mains Development Framework were presented and approved by East Lothian Council on the 18 January 2011.
The East Lothian Local Plan 2008, Proposal H3, states that the development is to consist of approximately 750 dwellings and associated mixed use development. The approved Development Framework will guide the preparation of a single masterplan for the entire allocated site. The framework sets out the infrastructure and design requirements expected by the Council for the development, and it will be a material consideration in the determination of any planning application
The Development Framework for the site at Letham Mains Haddington was approved by East Lothian Council on 18 January 2011. The Development Framework has been prepared in line with the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) process and an Environmental Report has been published, consistent with the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2007.
CALA Homes welcomed a decision by planners to green light the proposed new development at Letham Mains on the west side of Haddington.
As well as addressing a shortage of family homes in the area, the development will contribute to £10 million worth of education improvements, including the creation of a brand new primary school and enhancements to Knox Academy, St Marys RC Primary. The Aubigny Centre will also be extended.
