Part of £4.5 million visitor services for Galloway Forest Park to increase tourism in the area.
The building is single-storey on a footprint of some 850m². Design is contemporary with a roof form comprising a series of irregularly shaped grey zinc clad “pagoda” type
roofs, each with glazed top light. The building incorporates an arrival / welcome /information area; restaurant and retail; kitchen; storage; office; toilet facilities (public and
staff); outdoor dining area; and bike shop with associated facilities including storage, toilets, office, first aid, shower / changing etc. Materials and finishes are a combination of
traditional and modern, including natural stone, extensive glazed panels, vertical and horizontal timber cladding; and dark grey zinc roofing.
