Voreda is working in partnership with Imperial College London, one of the top ten universities in the world, to redevelop a 7.5 acre brownfield site in West London W12, formerly the headquarters of BBC Worldwide.
A framework Masterplan has been designed for a new mixed-use academic and commercial development, Imperial West and a planning application has been submitted. The scheme design is based around a large central public space which will include new academic, research and office space for Imperial; commercial offices; a hotel with conference and health and fitness facilities; private, key worker and postgraduate residential accommodation; and a range of ancillary retail and restaurant facilities, including local amenity social facilities and space.
This is a major development for the College, the first of its kind in Europe, endorsing the College’s long term commitment to Hammersmith Hospital, a major UK medical research centre, and to the wider White City regeneration area.
Subsequent phases of the Imperial West development will be the subject of further discussion and consultation with the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea, together with the Greater London Authority and other stakeholders.
