Owners of a major leisure and residential development in the heart of Scotland are now seeking interest from international resort hotel operators. The 500 acre Kersewell Estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh has received planners approval for a 240 bedroom five star hotel with leisure, spa and conference facilities alongside an 18 hole championship golf course and the first phase of 250 lakeside holiday chalets with potential for upto 700.
Scotland is crying out for a five star world class resort hotel and has been on the radar of several international operators for some time. Edinburgh is the UK’s largest international and domestic tourist destination outside London with hotels enjoying some of the highest occupancy levels in Europe.
Scotland is a favourite with international conference organisers but is limited in what it has to offer in terms of true international convention space. While Scotland enjoys a good level of corporate visitors, larger global companies looking to accommodate 200 or more delegates under one roof are limited in choice.
Given the Kersewell hotel scheme will incorporate a golf course, leisure facilities and substantial conference venues, it should prove attractive to anyone operating in the global conference arena. Another attraction is its close proximity to the capital and Edinburgh International airport.
