The Corby Urgent Care Centre is open 8am-8pm, every day of the year. Once fully open, the new centre will bring a range of benefits to patients including a single point of access to urgent care services, reducing the need for patients to travel to A&E. There will also be a range of diagnostics including an x-ray department with extended opening hours and short-term observation bays – again so patients do not need to travel to a hospital for these services.
The project is a partnership between NHS Corby Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire, Lakeside Surgery and Corby Borough Council, with Kier Construction undertaking the building work. Staff from Kettering General Hospital will work with Urgent Care Centre staff to deliver the minor injury service once it moves into the new building, and the hospital will also relocate its Corby x-ray service into the new centre.
