City of Glasgow College’s pioneering project has been procured under the Scottish Government’s NPD framework. The project will see state-of-the-art buildings created on existing college land in the city centre on Cathedral Street and on the banks of the River Clyde.
Construction began on the new £228million campus in summer 2013 with an expectation that the riverside building will be completed in summer 2015 and the city centre building in summer 2016. The overall project will be completed in summer 2017 following final demolitions and landscaping.
The college is committed to ensuring business as usual and that any disruption will be kept to a minimum for both staff and students. Indeed, the construction phase will be utilised to maximise the learning and project opportunities for students.
The new estate will allow City of Glasgow College to realise its educational vision and provide the learning community with fit for purpose facilities.
The investment will deliver significant educational benefits, improve efficiency and effectiveness and create a sustainable estate that evidences the Scottish Government’s commitment to education, regeneration and carbon reduction.
The new campus project supports a wide range of priorities and policies for the Scottish Government, the Scottish Funding Council and Glasgow City Council.
