The new church rooms to support the work of Christchurch, Chorleywood replaced a life-expired 1960s church hall which was no longer meeting the Church’s needs. Christchurch is a prominent building overlooking Chorleywood common and clearly visible from the busy A404 connecting the town with the M25 and Rickmansworth. The architectural challenge was to accommodate 520m2 of meeting rooms, foyer, crèche, kitchen, wc and storage into a modern building form which would sit comfortably between the grade II listed church and the neighbouring primary school.
The striking gable-ended building draws architectural cues from the church and the school and is a pleasing contemporary addition providing greatly needed facilities for a thriving church family.
