Alaska Development Consultants aims to transform the Hippodrome in Brighton to create a new entertainment hub linking with Dukes Lane and the rest of the famous Brighton Lanes.
This vision includes the restoration of the former Mecca Bingo Hall as an eight screen cinema, discretely housed at lower levels and to the rear of the existing building. The insertion of a new floor within the dome will create a stunning space worthy of the Frank Matcham interior, which will be fully restored. Hippodrome House will be included in the scheme, along with the redevelopment of the Ship Street car park site to create a two storey retail unit.
A new connection to Dukes Lane is also proposed, improving public access and inviting interaction with the Hippodrome building. The extended shopping arcade will create an additional four to five new retail units and a public square just off Middle Street.
