The Rafael Viñoly designed mixed-use masterplan comprises a careful blend of over 3,400 new homes as well as offices, shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, community and leisure space and 18 acres of open space.

The iconic Battersea Power Station, a Grade II listed building, will form the central focus of the plans and will be carefully restored with public accessibility at its core. The 39-acre site overlooks over 400 metres of London’s famous River Thames, is directly opposite Chelsea and less than a mile and a half (2.4km) from the Houses of Parliament.

According to Prime Minister David Cameron, it is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of central London’s significant regeneration area, Nine Elms on London’s South Bank. The Power Station site is designated as a new town centre for the area, with a new High Street, town square and tube station which will be served by the Northern Line Extension of the London Underground.

Battersea Power Station is contributing up to £211m to the NLE, which was guaranteed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne in the Autumn Statement of November 2012. The Battersea Power Station site is owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors comprising S P Setia, Sime Darby and the Employees’ Provident Fund. The development management of the project is being undertaken by British based, Battersea Power Station Development Company.

Battersea Power Station received outline Planning Consent in August 2011. Phase One received detailed planning consent from Wandsworth Borough Council on 13th December 2012.
