Vent-Axia’s lo-carbon PoziDry Pro™ Loft PIV now made from recycled plastic

Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia has re-launched its Lo-Carbon PoziDry Pro™ Loft Positive Input Ventilation (PIV), which is now made from recycled plastic. These changes are another step towards more sustainable choices for customers and will help social housing providers meet their environmental goals. This move to using recycled plastic in the PoziDry Pro™ Loft PIV forms part of the company’s commitment to becoming increasingly sustainable, including using recycled plastic in an ever-widening number of products.

Using recycled plastic for the PoziDry Pro™ Loft PIV is designed to lower social housing’s carbon footprint, helping providers meet their carbon targets, while at the same time providing effective ventilation and a solution for hard-to-treat mould. Manufactured from recycled ABS plastic, the units are still market-leading but are now more sustainable as well.

Natasha King, RMI Product Manager at Vent-Axia explained,

“Sustainability has always been core to our product innovation. We are committed to offering our customers more sustainable choices by continuously improving our products’ energy performance, reducing waste throughout our products’ lifecycle, and significantly increasing the use of recycled plastic from the circular economy in the manufacture of our products. By using recycled plastic in the production of our PoziDry Pro™ Loft PIV we are further improving the product’s environmental credentials for social housing. By 2025, over 70% of our products sold will be from one of our Lo-Carbon™ ranges, and 90% of the products that we manufacture will be made from a recycled source.”

The move to using recycled plastic in part of the construction of the Lo-Carbon PoziDry Pro™ Loft means that the unit now comes in black for the non-visible parts (i.e. parts out of sight in the loft), while the diffuser will remain white as this is a visible part of the product for residents. The black ABS comes from a recycled source, it will not change the function, performance or impact the form or fit of the product in any way and more importantly improves the environmental credentials of this product.

Designed to improve IAQ and prevent moisture build-up within social housing properties, the PoziDry Pro™ provides a highly effective solution to help households and landlords control condensation and mould, as well as offering high levels of air filtration. Providing fresh, tempered air into the home the PoziDry Pro™ creates an indoor environment where condensation and mould find it hard to exist, benefiting occupants and avoiding the damaging effects on the building. Air is drawn into the PoziDry Pro™ unit via the loft from outside and incoming air is filtered via the high grade G4 or F7 filters removing nasty contaminates before gently introducing it into the habitable areas of the property. The diffuser directs the airflow upwards where the incoming air mixes with the warm air that gathers at ceiling height.

The PoziDry Pro™ also comes with Smart Sense™ technology to help reassure landlords that they are compliant with the Homes Act. The Smart Sense™ datalogger tracks fan usage to ensure it is used as intended. This includes data such as days run, hours on trickle or boost, and even more specifically, hours run on boost triggered by the humidity sensor. If a fan has been switched off and mould appears, the landlord will realise why and can discuss a solution with residents. This helps landlords make homes safer for residents by helping to avoid condensation and mould which can lead to respiratory problems and allergies.

Boasting quick and simple installation for contractors the PIV unit is highly energy efficient, unobtrusive, near silent and helps provide a healthy environment for residents. The PoziDry Pro™ is designed for properties with loft space to install the unit in whilst Vent-Axia’s Lo-Carbon PoziDry Compact Pro is the ideal solution for properties, such as flats, without a loft.
