True grit of AkzoNobel powder coatings shines through 2021 Colour of the Year

AkzoNobel reveals Brave Ground as the Colour of the Year 2021. It’s a warm and grounding neutral shade that gives us the courage to embrace change – and it’s been translated into colours and finishes specific to the powder coatings market.

In a world where unprecedented events and experiences have become commonplace, our extensive global trend research indicates that what people need most is to feel the ground beneath their feet. Taking comfort in simple things emboldens us to express ourselves, stand up for what we believe and make new connections from the past to the future.

Jean-Paul Moonen, Colour Marketing Manager for AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business said,

“The annual trend research helps us create on-trend powder coating colour palettes for our customers across various segments, mainly in those industries that are led by design. Those insights, across multiple years, are also invaluable to informing our updates to the Futura range. In translating the spirit of Brave Ground into powder coatings, we’ve selected Brave Ground Interior (E3503I) for interiors, and Gris Sable 2800 (YW356F) for exteriors.”

Brave Ground Interior and Gris Sable 2800, as well as the colours in their four complementary colour palettes, are part of the existing Interpon range. The neutral colours work especially well for exterior applications, while the bolder colours can really bring interiors to life.

The industrial and consumer market segments use powder coatings on tables, chairs, filing cabinets, lockers and other furniture to make a strong design statement in the office, school or garden. Also looking for new and contemporary colours to add to their ranges are the designers and manufacturers of aluminium windows and doors.

Powder coatings are an attractive option for our architecture customers in more ways than one. They’re a more sustainable option that is also durable, lasting up to 30 years. As for their visual appeal, our powder coatings come in a variety of colours and on-trend matt and low-gloss textures to help architects and specifiers make the perfect impression.

AkzoNobel is a global expert in identifying global trends and creating exciting colour palettes with the power to express personality, enrich culture, and help transform living spaces and working environments.
