Leading moveable wall specialist, Style, has won the Gold award in the operable walls category of this year’s prestigious FIS Contractors’ awards, making it the 11th time they have won the top prize.
The accolade was presented to Andy Gibson and Dan Forrest, from Style North, by FIS President Helen Tapper and former British Athlete Kriss Akabusi MBE, at a gala dinner in November.
The FIS Contractors Awards aim to promote and encourage high levels of craftsmanship in the finishes and interiors sector, with all contracts being visited by two award judges to assess the quality.
In addition to Style’s 11 golds, the company has also won 5 silvers over its 22 year history making it the most feted moveable walls specialist in the UK.
“We were delighted to have won gold,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the North.
“The winning project at the Frederick Douglass centre was particularly challenging as their aim was to achieve an acoustic separation of 55dB Rw, however the moveable wall was to run between the seating in a vast, tiered lecture theatre.
“As a result, we collaborated with our manufacturing partners, Dorma Hüppe, to design two bespoke, and fully automated, stepped acoustic moveable walls. These are deployed back-to-back to provide maximum site performance, and with on-site testing completed by acoustic consultants, Sandy Brown, the final rating was a phenomenal 59DnTw – far exceeding anyone’s expectations.”
