Sapphire Balconies, a leading provider of architectural balcony solutions, has recently completed a project supplying 126 balconies in two elegant colours, black and gold, across five distinctive types for Willmott Dixon’s prestigious Millwright’s Place development in Bristol’s city centre.
Designed by The Bush Consultancy and situated at the heart of the city centre, adjacent to a bustling fire station, Millwright’s Place presented unique logistical challenges for Sapphire Balconies that came with providing balconies both quickly and without disturbing the peace in the area. The company successfully delivered Glide-On™ aluminium Cassette® balconies with vertical bar balustrades featuring cast-in anchors incorporating thermal breaks.
Challenges emerged from the necessity to install large, dual-apartment balconies without disrupting the operations of the neighbouring fire station. Additionally, manoeuvring balconies into the complex’s courtyard proved to be another obstacle expertly tackled by Sapphire Balconies.
Sapphire addressed these challenges with efficiency and innovation. Leveraging their offsite production facilities, all balconies were manufactured in advance and delivered to the site, eliminating the need for onsite storage. The implementation of their innovative Glide-On technology facilitated swift and hassle-free balcony installations within the building’s interior.
Millwright’s Place, located just moments away from Bristol’s vibrant Cabot Circus shopping centre, resides on the former site of the Avon Fire & Rescue headquarters, adjacent to their current fire station. Boasting 231 private rental apartments, this brand-new development enriches Bristol’s city centre with modern amenities and a convenient link to the bustling urban landscape.
