Commenting on the expected Government Housing White Paper James Bloom, Head of Development Finance at Masthaven, said:
“We need to find a way to increase and speed up new house building in the UK and one of the ways to do that is to use modern prefabricated methods of construction.
While the old post-war concept of prefabricated houses had inherent problems they had are long gone and there are some excellent modern prefabricated methods of construction which are ideal to help the housing crisis.
We look forward to reading the White Paper in due course but in theory we feel this should be encouraged and promoted by central and local government. Providing the method of construction is CML new build warranty and building regulation compliant we would certainly consider lending to SME housing developers committed to delivering new prefabs.”
