Mark Sismey-Durrant, Chief Executive Officer at Hampshire Trust Bank, responds to Markit UK Construction PMI:
“The drop in confidence amongst construction firms highlights how many businesses are taking a cautious approach to the current political uncertainty. Despite this, there remains a significant supply and demand imbalance for UK housing and this is arguably worsening, regardless of what happens on 23rd June. We actively support developers taking up the opportunities to build homes now. As a specialist lender we know that financing is available for these projects and remaining positive about growth will help us move forward as the political machinations come to a conclusion.”
