Lead8, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, has been announced a winner at the Asia Pacific Property Awards for its design of the future Shangri-La Mixed-use Development in Fuzhou, China.
The results were unveiled this week at a gala ceremony at Bangkok’s Marriott Marquis Hotel. Lead8 is the Design Architect and Interior Designer (Hotel, Retail and Office) for the award-winning scheme which won in the ‘Mixed-use’ category.
Claude Touikan, Co Founder and Executive Director, who collected the award alongside fellow Co Founders David Buffonge and Christine Hau commented,
“We are incredibly proud to be recognised for our work with Shangri-La Group. Almost 15 years ago they opened the first luxury international hotel in Fuzhou. We are now designing what we hope will be another first for the city; a forward-thinking development to enrich the urban centre of this Fujian capital”
The future Shangri-La Mixed-use Development in Fuzhou is an exciting undertaking by one of the world’s premier developers, owners and operators of hotel and commercial properties. The scheme will see the smart transformation and expansion of the existing high-end hotel, which completed in 2005, into a mixed-use urban resort combining luxury hotel, business, retail, dining and entertainment.
The original hotel will be renovated and interconnected to a new multi-level recreational and retail podium and Grade A office tower more than 120,000 sqm in total. Emphasising modern mixed-use design principles, Lead8 has created a boundary-less environment, seamlessly integrating spaces and greenery throughout.
David Buffonge explained,
“Our design approach for this high-profile site is best described as a layered approach to ‘Old meets New’. Not only are we balancing refurbishment with new build, we also wanted to create a connection between the city’s rich architectural history and visual culture and the contemporary and innovative luxuries expected by the modern consumer.”
Construction has already commenced on the new, multi-dimensional development with an expected completion date targeted for 2022.
This is the first Asia Pacific Property Award win for Lead8. The program is part of the International Property Awards and celebrates the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry.
