Carpet Tiles, Luxury Vinyl Tiles and Heterogeneous Vinyl floors from IVC Commercial have been used throughout the interior of a leading Birmingham workplace provider.
In a refurbishment scheme over three phases some 2,500m² of Birmingham office space, Carpet Tiles, Luxury Vinyl Tiles and Heterogeneous Vinyl solutions from IVC Commercial feature within a scheme designed to bring fluidity across the layout.
Designed by Overbury, the flooring scheme features river-like organic shapes cut into angular geographical lines. This demanded floors that flowed well together and that had the flexibility to sit with adjacent products across complimentary palettes.
The Overbury design team turned to IVC Commercial, choosing Art Style and Art Exposure carpet tiles, IVC 55 luxury vinyl tiles, and Nomad and Isafe 70 heterogeneous vinyl. IVC Commercial’s installation solutions were also used within the project with Flexpro self-adhesive underlay and Invisiweld seamless technology.
Katy Boulter, senior project designer, Overbury, comments:
“IVC Commercial’s portfolio gave us the flexibility to create the patterns and palette we wanted to achieve for the layout within a reasonable cost.”
With ventilation through raised access flooring, contractor The Commercial Flooring Company also had to accommodate vents and access, directly bonding onto panels to ensure that any service elements were as concealed as possible.
Creating a comfortable and relaxed feeling that supports productivity, the design team selected the organic design of Metallic Path 979 and Popular Attraction 959 carpet tiles. Using a charcoal grey base, the carpet tiles deliver a complimentary pairing that have been used throughout working, meeting and collaboration areas.
For congregation areas, breakout zones and the reception, three IVC luxury vinyl tiles were selected. IVC 55 Cloud Stone, IVC 55 Impressive Santa Cruz wood plank and IVC 55 Expressive Bohemian rustic wood chevron are natural designs that connect to the theme’s organic overtone.
Installed on Flexpro, a self-adhesive underlay that is quick to install and achieves a comparable height to carpet tiles for easier transitions, these floors provide a durable and easy to maintain solution. In IVC 55 Impressive Santa Cruz and IVC 55 Expressive Bohemian, the space benefits from a true-to-life wood texture and matt finish that can withstand the demands of modern working environments.
Flex Pro was suggested by The Commercial Flooring Company as Nathan Ware, managing director, explains:
“After installing one floor with a fully prepared system over the RAF (raised access flooring), the client decided that for the remaining floors they wanted to regain use.”
“IVC Commercial put forward Flex Pro as the ideal solution for installing on raised access flooring and we worked together to get a specification that delivered the perfect height to transition fluidly from LVT to carpet tile. Our installers were delighted with the speed and ease of installation that the system gave.”
Main thoroughfare areas enjoy the seamless look of Invisiweld installed heterogeneous vinyl in modern concrete and terrazzo looks. Nomad loose lay acoustic flooring, featuring in two colours of the concrete look Oxley, provides 20dB of impact noise reduction for a quieter environment. Isafe 70 adds heightened slip-resistance underfoot with TRRL 36+ performance in the terrazzo of Coronet and Cyclone Concrete.
By using Invisiweld, The Commercial Flooring Company was able to install the floors next to the IVC 55 luxury vinyl tiles without metal or plastic transitions creating a clean transfer that gives a more organic and fluid appearance.
Katy Boulter, concludes:
“The client loved the finished outcome, and given the complexity of the design the products performed very well.”
A total of 2,500m² of performance solutions from IVC Commercial were installed at the Birmingham workplace, completed in July 2020.
