Leading landscaping supplier Green-tech has been named as the Employer of the Year in the recent Pro Landscaper Business Awards in London.
Green-tech’s Managing Director, Rachel Kay comments;
“I am absolutely delighted that we have won the Employer of the Year category in the Pro Landscaper Business awards. We are a growing business and we do try really hard to ensure our people are happy, satisfied and well rewarded for their part in our business success. I have said many times we have the best team and our entry was partly based on our relationship with our staff as well as our approach and policies so I’m incredibly proud that we are getting this right and we have been given the thumbs up by an independent third party.”
To take the coveted title of Employer of the Year Green-tech had seven key areas to prove to the judging panel that they excelled in. These were; communication, encouraging a work-life balance, being open to new ideas and feedback, recognising employee accomplishments, the physical environment of a workplace, recruiting, training and retaining and finally; their apprentice training scheme.
Green-tech showcased their slick and professional recruitment processes, positive staff experiences and exceptional training and development opportunities as well as focusing on the employment of apprentices and their staff retention. They positively demonstrated how their processes, culture and approach is something for other organisations’ to strive to.
Pro Landscaper’s Jim Wilkinson added;
“This was a really tough category with some outstanding entries, but the judges were really impressed by the depth and consistency of Green-tech’s commitment to staff. Green-tech is a leading light within the landscape sector and a very worthy winner.”
Green-tech’s Chairman, Richard Kay, concludes,
“This is a great award to win and one that makes me incredibly proud. Rachel and I have spent the last 25 years of our lives building the company to where it is today – we employ more than 85 people and will turn over in the region of £17 million this year. We have built a strong and reliable team over the years. Obviously, people come and go but our staff retention numbers are excellent and I’m thrilled that people enjoy working for Green-tech. We try hard to acknowledge and reward staff and to make work fun. We do work hard but I think we all have a good laugh along the way and there is mutual respect between us all.”
