Golding Homes Housing Association has successfully exchanged contracts with Keepmoat Homes to provide the organisation’s first modular construction homes, later this year.
Keepmoat Homes, one of the UK’s top 10 homebuilders, will deliver 22 new homes for Golding Homes at the St Mary’s Road development in Swanley.
The development will include a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes, of which 13 will be built using a modular construction method by ilke Homes at their base in Yorkshire. The homes, once complete, will be transported to the development in Swanley for installation; unlike traditional build this modern method will reduce the build time on the whole development by six months, whilst maintaining quality and design.
The modular homes benefit from being air-tight and super-insulated making them more cost effective compared to existing homes, saving customers money on their energy bills.
These will be the first homes in Golding Homes’ stock that have been built using this modern method.
Tom Casey, Director of Development and Sales, said: “Golding Homes are delighted to be providing our first factory-built homes. The build time using modular construction methods is reduced dramatically. This means we are able to provide homes quicker, whilst keeping the same quality and style. We hope these will be the first of many more homes using innovative construction methods that we can offer our customers.”
The St Mary’s Road development, forming 3-bed homes and 1 and 2-bed apartments, will be ready for handover between December 2019 and April 2020 with residents moving in shortly after.
