Foster + Partners is delighted to announce the publication of Portfolio – a complete account of the first fifty years of the practice. In bookstores on 23 September, the 540-page book provides a visual record that celebrates the practice’s breadth of works: both built and unbuilt. Including a foreword by Norman Foster as well as essays from respected architectural critic Peter Buchanan, it offers fresh insight into the practice.
For the first time, Portfolio features photographs of every project completed in the practice’s first five decades, as well as drawings of its most important unrealised designs.
With nearly 500 images – many previously unpublished – the book highlights the contribution that the studio has made to a range of design challenges. Arranged in five decade-long chapters, spanning from 1967 to 2017, it is a chronological logbook of over 345 built works, with drawings of unbuilt works appearing at the end of each decade. Connected by colour and light, or contrasted by form and function, the image pairings offer a unique insight into one of the most well-known studios in the world.
