First woman appointed as Honorary Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists

Barratt Homes Bristol’s Senior Technical Co-ordinator Stacey Taylor has just been elected onto the Executive Board of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), the first woman to be appointed Honorary Treasurer.

Stacey, who started in the construction industry at the age of 16 as an apprentice, is now a Chartered Architectural Technologist after a 21-year career. She has, she says, been actively involved in CIAT for over 10 years as a member of the Finance Committee and seen close up the organisation’s role in supporting members so they can build capability and competence for the future.

“I was delighted to be voted into this role at the AGM,” says Stacey, who is based in Barratt Homes Bristol’s head office. “It is a chance to give something back to an industry I care about, to have a voice in how things are governed and the direction and development of the Institute, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for my professional growth, too.”

Stacey’s first address to the membership will be next year at the AGM in Dublin.

“There are so many exciting things going on in this industry, not only as more women enter construction and more apprentices shape their careers in the sector, but as we focus on building the best and most environmentally friendly homes,” says Stacey. “We need to focus on and navigate challenges around sustainability and the environment in a positive way. I am really glad to be a part of what is happening in this arena.”
