Products from F. Ball and Co. Ltd.’s System LVT range have been used to install floorcoverings as part of the stylish Overkamp Park residential development in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, consisting of three apartment blocks, each with 53 luxury apartments and two penthouses.
Subcontracted by Joker van der Wiel Interieur, flooring contractor C.Q. Vloeren Dennis Sliep, based in Vlaardingen, installed vinyl and linoleum floorcoverings in 40 apartments in one of the three towers.
F. Ball’s Stopgap 300 HD heavy-duty levelling compound was used to create a perfectly smooth base for floorcoverings. The product’s high compressive strength will ensure a long-lasting, professional flooring finish even when subjected to heavy daily usage, while its excellent self-levelling properties provide a perfect base for resilient floorcoverings.
Once the levelling compound had cured, a combination of Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVTs) and linoleum sheet floorcoverings were installed. F. Ball’s Styccobond F58 PLUS fast-drying, fibre-reinforced, pressure sensitive adhesive was used to install wood-effect LVTs in both straight planks and herringbone formations. Its fast-drying formulation enables LVT tiles and planks to be secured from just five minutes following application. Since its launch last year, it has become F. Ball’s best-selling product in the Dutch market.
Flooring contractors installed Forbo Marmoleum sheet in other areas using Styccobond F54. The adhesive has been specially designed to adhere linoleum floorcoverings and provides high initial grab to reduce sliding during installation. It is also non-flammable, solvent-free and protected against bio-degradation.
Cracks in the substrates were also repaired using F. Ball’s Stopgap Micro Rapid. The ultra-smooth, flexible, rapid-drying floor finishing compound can be applied to a seamless feathered edge to repair minor surface defects in a wide range of absorbent surfaces, including sand/cement and calcium sulphate screeds, and is ready to receive new floorcoverings from just 20 minutes after application. It is ideal for use where a flawlessly smooth surface is desired to optimise the final appearance of a flooring installation. Flooring contractors primed subfloors using Stopgap P131 general-purpose primer prior to the application of the levelling compound.
Commenting on the project, F. Ball technical support advisor for the Netherlands Kees-Jan van Eeren said:
“Given the profile and specification of the project, flooring contractors weren’t going to compromise on subfloor preparation and steps to achieve optimum results. When you’re installing top-quality resilient floorcoverings, it’s worthwhile investing in advanced products that can help with this. F. Ball’s System LVT range comprises subfloor preparation products and adhesives which, used correctly and in combination, guarantee a flawless finish when installing LVTs.”
