Draks, an Oxfordshire-based design led manufacturer of high-quality wardrobe and room dividers, is proud to partner with a respected charity close to their hearts.
Louise Sellar, Sales and Marketing Director of Draks (pictured) discusses the new relationship with Parkinsons.Me.
“We chose Parkinsons.Me for several reasons. Our MD’s father lived with Parkinson’s and so we had an instant connection with the charity. Once we met with Mike and Peter we were extremely impressed with the passion, organisation and vision of the team at Parkinsons.Me.
“We are supporting the charity with sponsorship as well as planning to help them with getting their Moveme Parkinson exercise programme into other NHS trusts and offering up some of our time to help them in the Parkinsons.Me community garden, in Wantage. I have personally already spent time volunteering down there and it was very rewarding.”
Louise continues,
“We are excited and privileged to be able to make a difference to a small local charity, helping them grow and raising awareness of not only of their amazing work but also promoting awareness of the disease and the support available.”
Justine Flynn, Communications Manager of ParkinsonsMe adds,
‘We are extremely grateful for the sponsorship Draks has provided and we are excited to enter into a new working relationship with them, especially with James Fletcher (Manging Director of Draks) having had personal experience of Parkinson’s with his own father.
Draks, a local company, clearly has a positive social agenda and wants to support families living with Parkinson’s. There are over 145,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK which means 145,000 families are affected. Parkinson’s is not an old people disease – my partner, Alex Flynn, was diagnosed at the age of 36 years old. 1 in 15 of us are being diagnosed and currently there is no cure.”
Justine continues,
“Parkinsons.Me is a vital charity to those living with Parkinson’s and can provide instantaneous support. We want to assure people they are not alone. We have lots of exciting plans ahead to raise awareness and funds for the charity all of which will be announced on the website www.parkinsons.me”
