When it comes to housing repair and maintenance, Bond It has become a preferred choice for sealants, adhesives and so much more.
This year marks the first ever appearance by Bond It at The Installer Show. The business, which is the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and building chemicals, will use its presence to highlight the impressive breadth of its offer to customers across a range of sectors – housing management and maintenance included.
“For more than 20 years, Bond It has been manufacturing sealants, adhesives and building chemicals in the UK” explains Kirstie Cooper. Today, from our 120,000 sq. ft. site in Elland, West Yorkshire, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of products that meets the widest range of needs.
“Looking specifically at housing management and maintenance, we are able to provide solutions for use across every part of the building envelope as well as external areas. This includes products for roofing, landscaping, flooring and for kitchens and bathrooms.”
One partner. Multiple benefits
It’s not just Bond It’s ability to offer a complete range of solutions all under one roof that has made the business such a popular choice with customers across the affordable and rented housing sector.
There’s also the fact that its products are developed with a keen eye on innovation and on meeting evolving societal and legislative demands.
As a prime example, Bond It was a leading force in the development of next generation hybrid sealants.
“As their name suggests, hybrid sealants offer users the best of both worlds” comments Kirstie. “These products combine the benefits of silicone and polyurethane sealants with none of either material’s associated drawbacks.”
Like a silicone-based product, hybrid sealants cure rapidly, are non-bubbling, are free from solvents and isocyanates, can be applied at low temperatures and offer good UV resistance.
Like a polyurethane sealant, they are also tear resistant and easily painted, even with water-based paint.
More sustainable solutions
Bond It has also been quick to respond to the need for more sustainable maintenance and repair solutions.
“Our pursuit of greater sustainability is relentless” says Kirstie. “It sees us looking for opportunities to improve environmental performance in all manner of areas’
“This could be in terms of a product’s yield, its packaging, the raw materials it uses or its ability to contribute to the overall energy efficiency of a building.”
This approach has led to the introduction of Bond It Breeze Block Foam – a multi‐purpose polyurethane foam which is ideally suited for use as a gap-filler on joints where movement is likely.
It can accommodate this movement whilst maintaining an airtight seal around the components, reducing heat loss and subsequently heating and energy requirements.
Bond It has also recently introduced Bamboo Wipes. These anti-bacterial cleaning wipes are made completely from renewable and sustainable plant-based materials. They are also 100% biodegradable and outperform traditional polypropylene (plastic) based alternatives.
“The nature of Bond It’s already extensive range continue to evolves” adds Kirstie. “The Installer Show gives us the ideal platform to showcase this continually developing product portfolio and the many benefits it can offer to the housing management and maintenance sector.”
