Christopher Pincher has been appointed as Minister of State for Housing and Planning as part of the recent Conservative cabinet shuffle.
Replacing Esther McVey, who had only been in the role since July 2019, Christopher is the 10th person to fill the role in the last 10 years – the role long named a ‘revolving door’ by critics in the industry.
The new housing minister has been Tamworth’s MP since 2010, and has since served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to then Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, an Assistant Whip, Deputy Chief Government Whip, and Treasurer of the Household.
Despite the changes – including Sajid Javid stepping down as Chancellor, and replaced by Rishi Sunak – Robert Jenrick has kept his job as Housing Secretary.
