Caddick Construction has completed a new development comprising two student accommodation buildings on 179 High Street Lincoln on behalf of EBW Developments.
The Yorkshire-based construction company commenced work in February 2020, replacing the previous contractor which went into administration.
The two 8-storey buildings completed at the end of October 2020, providing 302 student apartments with shared kitchen, lounge and bathroom facilities. The ground floor provides high quality teaching space for the University of Lincoln.
The development will also deliver a new pedestrian route between the High Street and Brayford Wharf East making the city centre more accessible. This new thoroughfare will open in the coming weeks.
Chris Wilson, commercial development director at Caddick Construction said:
“This development provides first-class teaching and living space for the University of Lincoln. EBW Developments, Legal & General and University of Lincoln have been fantastic to work with.”
Richard Thomas from EBW Developments said
‘’This has been quite a challenging site from the start where we had to demolish a difficult building very close to the railway and then lost our previous main contractor who went into Administration in 2019. The project teams at the University and Legal & General worked together with us and our new contractor, Caddick Construction, to get this project completed to a very high standard.’’
Christopher Adams, Senior Development Manager at LGIM Real Assets, said:
“We are delighted to see the successful completion of this development. It has required constant collaboration from all parties since the introduction of Caddick Construction, to successfully overcome the challenges that came with the delays incurred as a result of the original main contractor administration. The development has been completed in readiness of the 2020 student intake, which will see 302 students move in to their new residences.”
