Building for Tomorrow: Timberplay and Urban&Civic’s Study Day on Sustainable Community Development

Working alongside Urban&Civic, Timberplay are delighted to announce a collaborative Study Day on the 20th March 2025, held at Priors Hall Park Community Centre, right in the heart of Priors Hall Park Residential Scheme in Corby, Northamptonshire. This study day brings together esteemed speakers who all share a passion for developing outdoor spaces of excellence to enhance residential areas. Targeting residential developers, housebuilders and landscape architects, the day will include a site tour and provide attendees plenty of inspiration on harnessing the environment to create thriving communities.

Priors Hall Park is Urban&Civic’s groundbreaking 907-acre housing development set to include over 5,300 dwellings from various housebuilders. This masterplanned community seamlessly integrates natural assets with exceptional transport links and world-class play facilities.

Key speakers include Scott Chalmers and Mark Redding from Urban&Civic, who will share the site’s history, discuss future plans, and provide commentary for the site tour. Additionally, biodiversity consultant James Patmore (BMD) will detail the conservation efforts safeguarding the site’s wildlife and natural habitats.

Ben Harbottle, Sales Director at Timberplay, comments on the objectives of this Study Day:

“We are very fortunate at Timberplay to have worked on many high-profile and prestigious developments. It is nothing short of inspirational to witness how many of our clients seize the opportunity to deliver outdoor provision of excellence, regularly exceeding expectations to create residential schemes that lead the industry.”

Timberplay will be hosting the event and also presenting on how to make bold choices when it comes to play in order to create more challenging and stimulating play spaces.

Social Housing is facing its own specific challenges, and Elizabeth Connelly from one of the oldest not-for-profit housing associations, Peabody will be examining how they negotiate these whilst still providing quality outdoor spaces for their residents.

Peter Livings from Gillespies will take delegates on a tour of notable UK projects, from a 300-home settlement in Dunbeg, in the rural West Highlands of Scotland, to the award-winning Elephant Springs, a green oasis revitalising London’s Elephant & Castle.

Finally, Fields in Trust, the only charity established to protect the UK’s parks and green spaces will be discussing their new standards document, which showcases the transformative power of quality play in fostering community well-being.

This study day promises an engaging mix of tours, presentations, and networking opportunities. Places are limited, so early booking is essential.
