Housebuilder Avant Homes has promoted Scott Varley to the newly created role of area managing director for Scotland and north east England.
Scott first joined Avant Homes in 2006 as regional land manager for the group’s Yorkshire business, before taking up the post of land director in 2010. In 2014 he was promoted to managing director of Avant Homes North East where he has driven strong growth and performance for the last six years.
Based in Stirling and Sunderland respectively, Avant Homes’ Scotland and North East operations employ 350 people combined and have 26 developments currently under construction, delivering approximately 1000 units a year.
In his new role Scott will have managing director responsibility for both businesses ensuring that they continue to deliver a high-quality design-led product in a competitive market, whilst further developing both operating regions in line with Avant Homes’ ambitious long-term growth plans.
Commenting on his new role Scott said: “I am hugely excited to take up this new role working across Scotland and north east England. Both are excellent businesses with a passionate workforce and lots of potential for further growth. My focus will be to drive both businesses forward with an intelligent land strategy and the continuous improvement of our product, people and processes.”
Avant Homes is privately-owned and, in addition to Scotland and north east England it also operates in Yorkshire and the Midlands. Avant Homes’ head office is at Junction 30 of the M1, near Sheffield. The company’s next strategic growth objective is to double output to 4,000 homes a year and become a £1bn turnover business by 2023.
Avant Homes chief executive, Colin Lewis, said: “I am extremely proud of what Scott has achieved. He embodies all that is Avant Homes with a relentless pursuit for excellence and strong leadership skills that inspire and motivate our senior management team.
“Scott’s appointment to the newly created role of area managing director for Scotland and the North East is a strategic one as we look to build on our success in recent years and strive to achieve our ambitious growth objectives. Having those who exemplify our brand and vision in the driving seats of our regional businesses is critical to this growth and I am confident Scott will continue to flourish as he takes on this new challenge.”
