The Hong-Kong-based design powerhouse, AB Concept, placed first in two categories in this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards which took place on 3rd October in London’s King’s Cross. The renowned AB Concept-designed Mei Ume, championed in the categories of Luxury and the Best Overall UK Restaurant.
The renowned Chinese-cuisine restaurant, Mei Ume, is located in the heart of the Square Mile at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square. The project showcases exquisite interior designs specially curated using techniques that draw both on the cultural significance of the heritage building and the inspired concepts derived from the duo’s immense experience in hospitality design.
The main statement piece, a plum blossom-adorned triptych, is testament to this as it encompasses the entire project design incentive in its projection of tradition. By reflecting the original purpose of the building as a gateway for traders from the East, the triptych sets the tone for the entire restaurant by embodying the fusion of ‘East meets West’.
Ed Ng, Co-Founder of AB Concept said,
“Mei Ume was our first project in the UK and marked a very important milestone for our studio. We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to enter our project in this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and thrilled to have placed fist in the categories of Luxury and the Best Overall UK Restaurant.”
Mei Ume was also shortlisted in the following categories: London Restaurant, Restaurant in a hotel, Restaurant or Bar in a heritage building.
