Pyroguard, the world’s leading independent provider of fire safety glass, has been specified as part of the transformation of the former corporate office headquarters of telecommunications company Canal+ into an ambitious mixed-use development in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France.
Originally constructed in 2002, the 28,000 m² l’Eiffel building comprises eight superstructure levels and five basement levels. Its reinvention required far more than a conventional refurbishment; it demanded a complete architectural rethink. Led by Atelier 115 Architects, the project introduced new vertical connections, expanded façade elements and a redesigned central patio, all supported by an enhanced steel structure. At the heart of this transformation was the integration of Pyroguard’s high-performance fire safety glass, delivering both aesthetic appeal and uncompromising protection.
To support the architects’ vision of light and openness, 650 m² of Pyroguard Protect EI60 fire-rated glass was installed internally to form elegant edge-to-edge partitions around the stairwells, atrium and meeting rooms to provide visual continuity while meeting vigorous fire safety standards. Pyroguard Protect allows maximum natural light to filter through interior spaces while maintaining 60 minutes of fire protection. Its superior acoustic performance and UV stability enhance occupant comfort and building longevity, making it the ideal solution for a development prioritising both design excellence and well-being.
Bringing the development to life required close collaboration between multiple stakeholders. MAF Atlantique acted as the specialist designer and manufacturer, working closely with the project team to develop and engineer the glazing solution, while TSM France were responsible for the on-site installation. Jansen provided the structural steel frames, and Pyroguard contributed both its high-performance fire-rated glazing and hands-on technical expertise. By supporting each phase of the project, from early specification and test certification through to installation, Pyroguard’s technical team ensured the glazing was seamlessly integrated, helping the project stay firmly on track.
Jérôme Bastien, Regional Sales Director at Pyroguard explains:
“This project is an excellent demonstration of how our advanced glazing technology can support the next generation of high-performance, low-carbon redevelopments. I want to extend my sincere thanks to the teams at MAF Atlantique and TSM France – their trust, expertise and truly collaborative approach were instrumental in bringing the architectural vision to life while fully meeting contemporary energy efficiency and environmental standards.”
Guillaume LEBORGNE, Directeur Généralat at MAF Atlantique explains
“Working with Pyroguard was essential in meeting the aesthetic and performance requirements of this prestigious project. Their technical guidance was invaluable in addressing specific challenges, resulting in a design that is visually striking, technically robust and aligned with our sustainability goals.”
The building has now evolved into a mixed-use ecosystem that will provide office spaces, public facilities, including sport and wellness areas, as well as a restaurant and community hub.
Goodlife targets multiple sustainability certifications including HQE, BREEAM and BBCA Renovation, highlighting its low-carbon, future-ready approach to adaptive reuse in the Paris region. Pyroguard Protect contributes to these goals as a fully tested and certified solution to European fire safety standards, offering both environmental compatibility and proven performance within sustainable façade systems.
The Goodlife project exemplifies how innovative fire safety glazing solutions can seamlessly integrate with modern architecture to deliver spaces that are bright, safe and sustainable. Through the use of Pyroguard Protect, this Parisian landmark has been reimagined for the future – where performance, aesthetics and environmental responsibility coexist harmoniously.
