Marley is proud to announce, that we have become the first roofing manufacturer in the UK to offer Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across our entire concrete and clay roof tile portfolio, to complement our already established Marley SolarTile® EPD.
With the built environment directly contributing 25% of the UK’s carbon emissions, we recognise how important it is for the construction industry to work together to decarbonise homes and buildings of today and tomorrow.
EPDs play a key role in achieving this mission to decarbonise, by helping inform decision-making through the construction product specification process, so this announcement sets a new standard in the roofing sector, and further highlights our commitment to providing transparent product and environmental data.
Determine whether the EPD is a generic (industry-wide) EPD or specific to a particular supplier or product. This distinction is important as it can affect the comparability of environmental data.
A. Single company, product specific EPD
- Provides data for one product, made by one manufacturer
- Applicable if manufacturing of a product at different plants uses the same process
B. Grouped / Multiple Product EPD
- Includes similar products made by the same manufacturer if the environmental performance indicators don’t differ by more than 10% (Applicable for our EPDs)
C. Project and product specific EPD
- Provides data for a project or product requested by an EPD user, when the transportation calculation would differ from that in a verified EPD.
D. Generic / Sector / Industry average EPD
- This type of EPD is developed by an industry association
- These results are based on averages from the sector which is defined in the EPD.
How to access our EPDs
You can find our EPDs throughout our website, where an icon highlights whether the product you are viewing online has an EPD associated to it. This will be visible on all of our clay and concrete roof tile product pages, as well as our Marley SolarTile® product page.
