Maggie’s West London was designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partnersand inspired by Richard Roger’s concept of a heart nestled in the protective wrap of a building’s four walls. Rogers said:

“The idea was to try to minimise the overbearing impact of Charing Cross Hospital. The roof, the landscaping, the hearth inside, the views out, each was to take you away from the hospital and the bustle of the road.”

The bright orange walls carry visitors into an equally uplifting interior with cosy rooms, bright open spaces and transitional walls that provide the flexible space needed to host everything from intimate chats to lively exercise classes.

The building won both the RIBA Stirling Prize 2009 and the RIBA London Building of the Year 2009.
