Designed by Boyes Rees Architects to achieve a BREEAM “Excellent” rating, the £10million Postgraduate Centre is proposed as a modern and contemporary landmark building that pays due respect to the local existing materials and reflects these throughout. The two wings of the building, being of different heights, will also be treated in different fashions to reduce the mass and break up the elevations.

The ground floor of the building will house predominately flexible teaching space. A number of acoustic partitions in the two-storey and four-storey wings will allow for flexible usage. The two-storey wing contains a large 250-seat auditorium and is placed just off the central breakout space which also accommodates a small café area.

The first floor will also house flexible teaching space, a 153-seat auditorium, office space and a postgraduate common room. The second floor will house plant space and another postgraduate common room with roof access to an external patio and bio-diversity roof. The four-storey wing will again house office facilities and will be repeated on the next two floors above.
