UK BIM Alliance to present BIM level 2 roadmap at Digital Construction Week

Chair of the UK BIM Alliance and Director and Fellow of Atkins, Anne Kemp will present the keynote speech, ‘The Future of BIM Level 2’ on day 1 of Digital Construction Week at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London on the 26thOctober.

In her presentation, Anne will offer a roadmap to the continued development of BIM Level 2 and the Government Mandate for all companies and sectors within the construction supply chain. Outlining the objectives and role of the UK BIM Alliance, the industry led body challenged by the Government to achieve BIM Level 2, Anne will detail how the construction industry can benefit from, and get more involved in BIM.

In her address, Anne will also share some headline feedback from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Annual BIM Conference earlier this month, where the UK BIM Alliance hosted six afternoon workshops. The sector specific, workshops captured the opportunities as well as the barriers that the implementation of BIM Level 2 has had, and is having, across every cross-section of the construction industry.

Speaking of her keynote presentation, Anne, who is also chairing day one at conference said:

“I’m honoured to be giving a keynote speech at Digital Construction Week on behalf of the UK BIM Alliance. The implementation of BIM Level 2 is integral to the future of our industry.

“We want BIM Level 2 to be ‘business as usual’ by 2020. In an industry of over 2.1m people, our mission is to enable all actors to recognise and understand the value of a digitally enabled sector.”

In addition, UK BIM Alliance will be working with BIM Regions to bring Digital Construction Week the BIM Village programme. Through a series of seminars, expert BIM sessions and drop in clinics, the BIM Village will focus on helping those starting out on their BIM journey. In the BIM Village, members of the UK BIM Alliance transition team will be on hand to discuss the role of the Alliance and to encourage those attending to get involved.

In its second year, Digital Construction Week is an event for the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry to explore the impact of technology and innovation on the built environment. Showcasing thought leaders and suppliers from across the AEC supply chain, Digital Construction Week features live talks, interactive forums and much more; focusing on how digital practices and advanced construction, together with BIM and new technologies, are changing the face of the built environment.
