Turley Associates strengthens Birmingham office with new appointments

Planning consultancy Turley Associates has strengthened its Birmingham office with a number of new appointments, demonstrating confidence that the market for its services is showing sustained growth.

Senior Planner Laura Smith has joined from property consultants GVA. She was shortlisted for Birmingham Young Professional of the Year in 2012, sits on the BYPY Committee for Birmingham Future, and is a former chair of YP WestMids. Laura has experience of large residential-led mixed-use schemes on surplus public sector land, and is now getting involved in town centre retail and office developments for Henderson Global Investors and Sterling Property Ventures.

Another Senior Planner, Rebecca Palmer, has relocated from the Leeds office to help deliver Sainsbury’s convenience store programme in the Midlands. She joined Turley Associates in 2008 and has wide experience in the retail and healthcare sectors, as well as recently securing outline planning permission on behalf of Telereal Trillium for 120 dwellings on a former DWP site in Leeds.

The Birmingham office has also taken on Charlotte Palmer as Assistant Planner, having graduated from the University of Manchester with a Masters in Town & Country Planning.

Commenting on her appointment, Laura said:

“Joining Turley Associates was an easy decision, because they have such a varied client base and strong reputation across so many sectors. The opportunity to be part of a growing team was right for this stage of my career.”

Mike Best, Executive Director and head of the Birmingham office said:

“2013 was our best year for some time and 2014 is already shaping up well. Attracting people of the calibre of Laura, Rebecca and Charlotte is vital to maintain that momentum and provide clients with great service.”
