Planning consultancy Turley Associates, acting on behalf of St Modwen, has secured outline planning permission and reserved matters approval for the first phase of a major regeneration scheme at Great Homer Street, Liverpool.
The permission, granted by Liverpool City Council on 27th August, will see the creation of a new district centre comprising a Sainsbury’s supermarket, 80,000 sq ft of retail space, new indoor and outdoor market facilities, 480 homes, a health centre, car-parking and a petrol forecourt together with significant improvements to the local environment.
Sam Ryan, a Director in the Manchester office of Turley Associates, said:
“We have been involved in this scheme for over four years and we are thrilled with this decision. It is a major milestone that will see this part of Liverpool transformed.”
The Great Homer Street scheme is one of five Mayoral Priority Projects for Liverpool and is instrumental to the regeneration of the north of the city.
Turley Associates provided advice to both the developer, St Modwen, and to Liverpool City Council on the compulsory purchase order in 2012; they provided planning, retail impact, heritage, landscape, economic, sustainability, and environmental impact advice for the latest applications.
Stephen Prosser, Regional Director, St Modwen, said:
“The attainment of this detailed permission is the next important step forward and is testament to the positive support the scheme continues to enjoy. We are committed to delivering this scheme for the people of north Liverpool and will be working hard to finalise the details over the next few months in the build-up to starting on site.”
Turley Associates is advising on two of the five Mayoral Priority Projects for Liverpool.
