Planning consultancy Turley Associates, acting on behalf of Bellway Homes (East Midlands), has secured planning permission for 157 new homes on the edge of Derby.
The scheme will provide 99 market and 58 affordable homes with a mix of two, three, four and five bedrooms, as well as public open space and a play area. Financial contributions will also be made towards education facilities, green infrastructure and community centres.
The site at Chellaston, which straddles the boundaries of Derby and South Derbyshire, is identified for housing in both authorities’ Local Plans. Derby City Council and South Derbyshire District Council are set to benefit from £1.3million thanks to the Government’s New Homes Bonus scheme.
Kathryn Young, a Planner in the Birmingham office of Turley Associates, said:
“This is a good example of collaborative working between the two Councils and Bellway Homes. The scheme will significantly boost the supply of housing and help deliver community infrastructure.”
Ben Stacey, East Midlands Regional Planning Manager at Bellway Homes, said:
“We are delighted with this decision and pleased to be able to meet the real need for new and affordable homes in this part of Derbyshire.”
