The Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education, will officially open Stride Treglown’s Rothley CoE Academy on Friday 20th March, 2015.
The 420 pupil school in Leicestershire was completed in December 2014 and replaces the existing village school where there has been a rising demand for places, but no opportunity for expansion.
The design is based on the ‘106 Model School’ that Stride Treglown produced for Persimmon Homes and forms the 11th iteration of the concept. Whilst each version of the model school shares a similar external appearance, each one is adapted to the school’s individual requirements, and in this case, the grounds provide beautiful views over Rothley village and beyond to the Leicestershire countryside.
Stride Treglown also designed the school to allow for potential future expansion by four classrooms and have included terraces within the grounds to create natural habitats and play areas for the pupils. A mobile classroom from the previous school will be re-clad in timber boarding in respect to the rural setting and used as changing room facilities.
John Kirkby, Divisional Director for Stride Treglown, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome the Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, to open Rothley CoE and believe it emphasises the success of our schools model. We hope that our design will provide pupils with a dynamic, inspiring learning environment for years to come.”
