Stephen Stone, CEO of Crest Nicholson, comments on the HBF and the Government’s shared ambitions

“We welcome the news today that the HBF and the Government have confirmed their shared ambition to increase UK housing output and deliver 1 million homes by 2020. The UK continues to be challenged by a short supply of suitable, affordable housing stock, and with a growing population this shared commitment is a significant step in the right direction.”

“Building on the news that build rates on large developments have doubled since 2010 and following the positive reforms proposed in the Housing and Planning Bill 2015 – 16, the Government’s determination to tackle the housing shortage is clear.”

“By working together to remove barriers and increase the speed of delivery the Housebuilding community can make these ambitions become reality. Developments such as our regeneration site, Oakgrove Village in Milton Keynes demonstrate how a coordinated approach between housebuilders, government and local authorities is key to efficiently delivering much needed sustainable mixed use communities and providing a local solution to housing shortage.”

“We look forward to working with both the HBF and the Government throughout the current parliament to deliver on this commitment.”
