St Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, is moving forward with plans to revitalise the Waterdale Shopping Centre in Doncaster, following completion of the sale this month.
The plans include an extensive refurbishment of the Centre, which is to begin shortly to provide a more modern, attractive space for both retailers and customers. New branding is also being developed as well as marketing plans to generate interest and drive footfall.
St. Modwen has already successfully secured three new retailers to the Centre, including Clive Smith Express Butchers, and discussions are currently underway with other interested occupiers. In addition, lease renewals have been agreed with a number of existing tenants.
Richard Bannister, Development Manager at St. Modwen, said:
“We recognise that Waterdale Shopping Centre is an important town centre location for many people in Doncaster. Our plans will give the Centre a new lease of life in order to attract new businesses to the town whilst ensuring that existing businesses are retained.
“Our approach is to listen and understand what both our new and existing tenants needs and by taking a flexible approach we are accommodating their current and future requirements.”
St. Modwen is currently redeveloping the 13 acre Wheatley Hall Road site in Doncaster, bringing new retail and recreational facilities to the area. The redevelopment includes a Marston’s public house, which opened earlier this year, and a new 40,000 sq ft Dunelm Mill store, which was recently completed and is expected to open its doors before Christmas. Two development plots remain available at the site totalling 1.5 acres.
