REL Electrical has been appointed by SDC Builders Ltd to deliver an electrical package for a new £10 million leisure centre in Bedfordshire.
Owned and managed by Central Bedfordshire Council, Flitwick Leisure Centre will replace an existing facility and when complete will include a 25m swimming pool, four-court sports hall, three studios, squash courts, cafe, changing rooms and a 120-station gym.
REL’s scope of works includes all lighting and power in the new leisure centre as well as the installation of fire access, access control, security systems, data cabling, CCTV and lighting protection.
The contract also requires REL to deliver the specialist electrical work for the swimming pool and surrounding area, including sourcing the specialist equipment required in line with the regulations associated with this niche area of work.
Warren Foster, Project Manager at SDC Builders said:
“REL has a proven track record in the leisure sector, so has the knowledge and experience to deliver the technical elements of this project, in particular those required for the swimming area which includes both a 25m pool and separate learning pool.”
The electrical project is expected to be complete by December 2015 ahead of the opening of the new leisure centre in early 2016.
