A development opportunity on the site of a former NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde facility has gone on sale.
The 6.25 acre site – previously home to the Orchard Wards – is located in Glasgow’s Ruchill area and is ideally suited for residential development and supporting uses. It is being brought to market by JLL on behalf of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
It neighbours the grounds of the former Ruchill Hospital, which is expected to be released to market in 2016/17 for the development of up to 300 residential units.
Nina Stobie, associate director, JLL, said:
“This opportunity is particularly interesting as it has the potential to be developed independently or in conjunction with the adjacent site thanks to its strategic location.
“The Orchard Wards facility was closed in 2015 with the former hospital buildings in the process of being demolished to allow a clear site for any future developer.”
Ruchill is around 2.5 miles north of the city centre with the development opportunity offering attractive views over Glasgow due to its elevated position.
The surrounding area is largely residential with a range of local amenities including cafes, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities. Hill Park Primary School is nearby, offering state-of-the-art education facilities.
There are strong rail links to Glasgow city centre via Possilpark, Parkhouse and Kelvinbridge while there is a regular bus service. The M8 motorway is also located close by.
