Housebuilder, Newland Homes, has scooped a triad of accolades at this year’s Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Awards; prestigious industry awards that recognise developments across England and Wales which are built to exceptionally high standards and individuals that go the extra mile in construction quality.
Two of Newland Homes’ site managers have been singled out for praise by the LABC and housing development by the Gloucester-based housebuilder has been highly commended in the LABC’s Best High Volume New Housing Development category.
Shaun Hasell, Site Manager at Newland Homes’ Newland Orchard development in Whitminster, was highly commended in the LABC Warranty Site Manager of the Year in the West of England region.
Mark Holden, Site Manager at Newland Homes’ Old Pump House development in Bedminster Down, Bristol, has been rewarded with an LABC Warranty Site Recognition Award for the consistent quality of workmanship shown at the site.
And a scheme of 28 low carbon, energy-efficient homes at Rectory Gardens in Maisemore has been highly commended in the LABC’s Best High Volume New Housing Development category. Homes at Rectory Gardens utilise the latest thinking in air source heat pumps to avoid reliance on fossil fuels, and the properties also benefit from a superfast fibre broadband connection, which is a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to work from home.
The LABC Awards recognise the dedication and commitment it takes to deliver quality sites and site managers across the country are rewarded for their exceptional contribution to construction. The LABC works with over 3,000 sites nationally and are only able to recognise a small number of sites and individuals with these awards.
Newland Orchard is Shaun’s first site as a site manager; prior to this, he was part of the team at Newland Homes’ Twyning Green development in Twyning. Shaun’s role is taskmaster to ensure that every new home is built to the highest possible standards.
Shaun comments: “I’m very pleased to have been shortlisted for Site Manager of the Year, especially on my first site as manager. I was nominated for the award by our LABC Building Inspector, who has over 40 sites in the area, so it’s good to know he thinks Newland Orchard is one of the best.”
Mark comments: “All sites are scored by LABC surveyors during their inspection visits, which take place regularly throughout construction. The assessment scores cover a number of different categories, including health and safety, site tidiness, the standard of site management and the standard of workmanship. The high score for Old Pump House is a great pat on the back for me and my team.”
