According to NHBC (National House Building Council) new home registrations in the UK in the third quarter of 2013 revealed a 19% increase compared to the same period last year.
In total 33,573 new homes were registered between July and September compared to 28,151 the same period in 2012 reports the NHBC. Within this, private sector registrations increased 23% to almost 25,000 while the public sector experienced a 10% rise.
Andrew Royle, UK Commercial Director at P C Henderson said:
“It has been a difficult time for the construction industry and this is welcome news for our trade customers.”
The NHBC has also revealed figures based on new home purchases of NHBC registered properties by age group based on responses to the NHBC National New Homes Survey. Statistics show that the proportion of new homes sold to the over 55s has increased from 17% to 23% over the last five years. While the proportion of younger people buying new homes has decreased from 8% in 2008 to just under 6% in 2013.
Andrew Royle added:
“With an ageing population it’s important to be building houses that cater for both the younger and the older generation. The right internal door system not only creates space for open plan living, but provides a home that is easy to move about in. A door system that has the durable qualities to stand the test of time for future homeowners is key; a sliding door system can provide an ideal solution with the option of a wider door width.”
Sliding and folding door hardware systems are perfect for saving space, maximizing door opening widths, adjusting room sizes and increasing safety by removing an intrusive swing door.
